Spirometry
We use a Spirometer Device to measure lung capacity and ability to breathe in and out.
The spirometer can be used in the diagnosis and management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease which is caused by chronic inflammation of the lungs and results in increased breathlessness.
It can also be used as an adjunct to asthma management.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease should be considered in anyone who presents with
- Progressive, persistent shortness of breath
- Chronic cough
- Chronic sputum production
- History of exposure to risk factors such as smoking
If you are concerned about any of the above. Please make an appointment at the surgery with one of our doctors for a clinical assessment prior to the Spirometry test.
